"The Soap Lady" started business in
1997 in Sandy, Utah. We started in our kitchen and continue to do
so but in a newly decorated and much more efficient kitchen. We have
continued to make thousands of loaves of soap, lotion, salt products
and other products in this kitchen so that we can devote as much time
as possible to our family. Our soap business is very much a "Family
Business", staffed by Kathy & Val; four sons; 3 daughters
in law and four "perfect" grandchildren! It is so rewarding
to feel the anticipation of the whole family when a newly designed
loaf of soap is ready to be popped out of the mold or "ready
to born" as we like to say. We have watched with pride as our
kids are eager to help brainstorm to create new show ideas & new
products. We now have our 3rd generation
soap maker emerging; our 8 year-old granddaughter, known as "The
Little Soap Lady" at the Downtown Farmers Market. Madison has
learned to create her own soap and bath products. She is creating
new products this year, designed for the children at the market, and
will debut her products at her annual fall show at the Farmer's Market.
Kathy has been handcrafting vegetable
glycerin soap for "The Soap Lady" since we started the
company and continues today as the sole artist, designer and creator
of all the soaps---with a lot of creative input from the whole family!
She enjoys the process of creating with vegetable glycerin because
the product lends itself so well to pigment and fragrance---the
pigment stays bright and strong and the fragrance remains strong
and true---a true artistic craft. We are excited to share our product
with our clients because of the values of hydrating and moisturizing
the skin. Val, the soap man, creates and assists in the manufacturing
of products. He is also the logistics manager, making sure that
the correct displays, supplies and products arrive safely to each
show. Many of you have seen our kids manning our booths at Swiss
Days, Raspberry Days, Kottage Kupboard and many more! "The
Soap Lady" business has truley become a family adventure! |
